Luke 18:40-43
And after Jesus stood, He commanded him to be led to
Him. And after he drew near, He asked
him, “What do you desire that I should do to you?” And he said, “Lord, in order that I should
receive my sight.” And Jesus said to Him,
“Receive! Your faith has saved you.” And immediately he received his sight and he
was following Him while giving glory to God.
And after all the people saw they gave praise to God.
Thoughts for Today
First Thought:
Jesus is in control.
The crowd tried to squelch the man’s cry, but they aren’t in
control. Jesus is in control. He governs the situation with the blind
man. He commands the man to come. The crowd tried to prevent the meeting,
thinking that the blind man wasn’t worth Jesus’ time. Jesus is in control. He will meet the blind man.
Where do you feel that God is in control in your life? Why is it important to you to feel the
control of God around you?
Second Thought:
Did you notice that Jesus takes the time to ask the blind
man? One might think that God would come
and tell the blind man what was going to happen. After all, He is God! But that’s not what happens. Jesus allows the blind man to have some input. Jesus allows the man to express his deepest
desire. Jesus may be in control, but He
is not about domination and showing His superiority. True leadership doesn’t have to exert
dominance. True leadership knows that
they are the leader and they are willing to bring others up to their level.
Where have you experienced leadership in the people around
you? Where have you been given an opportunity
by God to demonstrate true leadership?
Third Thought:
Jesus gets the answer. The blind man wants to see. Immediately he sees. Jesus doesn’t waste any time. The healing happens. Suddenly, the man is glorifying God. The people around the man are glorifying
God. Miracles lead to God receiving
glory. He gives us the power. He makes it possible. Why shouldn’t He get the glory in the end.
When are you led to give God the
glory? When have you seen other people
led to glorify God by the events in their life?
