2 Thessalonians 2:16-17

2 Thessalonians 2:16-17
And may our same Lord Jesus Christ and God our Father who loved us and who gave us an eternal encouragement and a good hope in grace encourage your heart and may He cause you to be more firm in every work and good word.

Thoughts for Today

First Thought:

Paul then invites the Thessalonians to feel the eternal hope and encouragement that comes from God.  In God, we can have hope.  We can know eternal life.  We can look forward and feel secure.  We can know that nothing in this world can separate from God’s hand.  That’s a word of encouragement and hope in grace!

Do you feel secure on a daily basis?  Why is this important to you personally?

Second Thought:

How can we truly trust in this security that we get from God?  We can trust in it because He loved us.  We can trust Him because He gave His own Son for the purpose of securing us.  He gave of Himself so that we could be in relationship with Him.  We can trust Him because He can to us an offered Himself as a gift.  Sacrificial love is a love we can trust.

Do you find it easy to trust God?  What makes it more difficult?  What makes it less difficult?

Third Thought:

Of course, there should be an effect that we get from this hope. The effect is simple.  Because of our eternal hope we stand firm.  We are firm in our faith.  We are firm in our deeds.  We are firm in our words.  When we have an eternal hope, we can be solid in our daily walk.

Does your hope translate into a firm and faithful daily walk?  How does this happen in your life?
