Luke 4:14-15

Luke 4:14-15
And in the power of the Spirit, Jesus returned into Galilee.  And a report went out according to the whole region regarding Him.  And He was teaching in their synagogues while being praised by all.

Thoughts for Today

First Thought:

Jesus returns triumphant.  He returns full of the Holy Spirit.  In other words, what Jesus said in the wilderness is true.  Man does not live by bread alone!  He had been hungry in the desert, yet He comes back completely full!  There is more to life than our human surroundings.  When we triumph over evil – or more aptly stated, when God triumphs over evil through us – we can be filled with His presence.

When has a moment in your life led to being filled with the Holy Spirit?  When have you known the truth that man does not live by bread alone?

Second Thought:

The people talk.  Of course they do!  Human beings are social beings.  We like to be in the know.  We like to gossip.  So when Jesus comes back home, people begin to talk about this carpenter turned spiritual teacher.

Why do human beings like to gossip and talk about others?  When are you guilty of this?

Third Thought:

Jesus goes about teaching.  He has a mission to accomplish.  He finds people who are willing to listen and He teaches them.  This is a great model.  Remember, Jesus isn’t paid to do this.  This isn’t His occupation.  Jesus just knows that there are all kinds of people who need to know the truth.  So He teaches them.

Are you willing to teach?  Do you think God can use you in a similar capacity?  Who around you is willing to listen to you?
